Votavis is a peer-to-peer gifting platform that allows individuals ("Seekers") to post wishes and other individuals ("Patrons") to voluntarily fund those wishes. Votavis is not a bank, financial institution, charity, crowdfunding platform, or payment processor. All funds transfer directly between users via third-party payment processors. Votavis does not hold, transmit, or control any funds at any time.

You must be at least 18 years old to use Votavis. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older and legally capable of entering into binding agreements. If you are accessing Votavis on behalf of a business or organisation, you confirm you have authority to bind that entity to these terms. Votavis is not available where prohibited by law.

All payments made by Patrons are voluntary, irrevocable gifts. No Patron is entitled to a refund, return of funds, or any goods or services in exchange for a grant. Seekers are under no legal obligation to deliver anything to a Patron. Votavis does not guarantee that any wish will be fulfilled, that funds will be used as described, or that any Seeker will respond to any Patron. By granting a wish, Patrons acknowledge they are making a gift with no expectation of return.

You may not post wishes or content that: (a) is false, misleading, or fraudulent; (b) involves illegal activity; (c) involves minors in any capacity; (d) uses manipulative or emotionally coercive language; (e) duplicates an active wish; (f) requests funds for purposes that violate applicable law; (g) constitutes spam or is posted for commercial gain unrelated to a genuine wish; or (h) violates any third-party rights. Votavis uses automated moderation to detect prohibited content. Violations result in immediate removal and may result in account termination.

Posting wishes on Votavis is free for all Seekers. There are no credits, subscriptions, or posting fees of any kind. Votavis charges a sliding platform fee only upon successful grant completion, deducted from the grant amount before disbursement to the Seeker. The fee schedule is as follows: 8% on grants under $100; 5% on $101–$500; 3% on $501–$2,000; 2.5% on $2,001–$10,000; 2% on $10,001–$50,000; and 1.5% on grants exceeding $50,000. Stripe's payment processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction is charged separately by Stripe and is not retained by Votavis. Votavis reserves the right to adjust its fee schedule with reasonable advance notice to users.

Votavis offers optional identity verification to increase trust. Verification documents are processed automatically by AI and deleted within 60 seconds of processing. Votavis stores only a verified/not verified status — no document data is retained. Votavis does not guarantee the accuracy of verification and verified status does not constitute an endorsement of any Seeker or their wish.

If you believe a wish is fraudulent, use the in-app report function. Votavis investigates reports and may remove content, suspend accounts, or refer matters to law enforcement. Because grants are voluntary gifts, Votavis cannot process refund requests for completed transactions. If you suspect fraud involving criminal activity, contact your local authorities and your payment provider directly.

You are solely responsible for determining and fulfilling your tax obligations arising from your use of Votavis. In some jurisdictions, funds received may constitute taxable income. Votavis does not provide tax advice. In jurisdictions where required, Votavis or its payment processors may issue tax documentation (such as Form 1099-K in the United States) for users receiving funds above applicable thresholds.

Votavis charges a sliding platform fee on successful grants: 8% on grants under $100, 5% on $101–$500, 3% on $501–$2,000, 2% on $2,001–$10,000, and 1% on grants above $10,000. There are no fees to post a wish. Seekers only pay the platform fee when they successfully receive a grant. Stripe's standard payment processing fee (2.9% + $0.30 per transaction) also applies. Patron Pass is an optional $9.99/month subscription for patrons who want early access and premium features.

You may delete your account at any time from your profile settings. Deletion requires two-step confirmation including typing DELETE to prevent accidental removal. Upon deletion: (a) your profile and personal data will be permanently removed within 30 days; (b) any active wishes will be removed from the feed immediately; (c) any pending incoming grants will be processed and disbursed before closure; (d) your patron rank history and grant records will be anonymised and retained for platform integrity; (e) transaction records may be retained longer where required by financial regulations or applicable law. Account deletion is irreversible. Votavis cannot recover deleted accounts or associated data. Votavis may suspend or terminate accounts at any time for violation of these terms, suspected fraud, or abusive behaviour, with or without notice. Suspended users may not create new accounts.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Votavis is not liable for: (a) any funds granted and not received or misused by Seekers; (b) payment processor failures or delays; (c) loss of data; (d) any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages. Votavis's total liability to any user for any claim shall not exceed the amount paid by that user to Votavis in the 12 months preceding the claim.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Votavis shall be resolved in the courts of Delaware. If you are located outside the United States, you agree to submit to the jurisdiction of Delaware courts for any disputes. These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Votavis is incorporated. Disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration except where prohibited by law. Nothing in these terms prevents either party from seeking injunctive relief in a court of competent jurisdiction.

Votavis may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. Continued use of Votavis after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree to updated terms, you must stop using Votavis and may delete your account.

When you use Votavis, we collect: (a) Account data — display name, email address, location (optional), and role (Seeker or Patron); (b) Content data — wishes, stories, photos, and videos you post; (c) Transaction data — grant amounts, payment processor references, and credit usage — note that payment details (card numbers etc.) are never seen or stored by Votavis and are handled entirely by our payment processor; (d) Usage data — interactions such as votes, reports, messages, and session activity; (e) Verification data — identity documents submitted for verification are processed automatically by AI and permanently deleted within 60 seconds. Only the verified/not verified status is retained.

We use your data to: operate and improve the platform; match Patrons with relevant wishes; detect and prevent fraud and policy violations; comply with legal obligations; send service-related communications. We do not use your data to serve third-party advertising. We do not sell your data to anyone, ever.

Votavis is private by default. Your display name is the only identifier visible to other users. Your email address is never shown publicly. Patrons may grant wishes anonymously — in this case their identity is never revealed to the Seeker. Seekers may post wishes anonymously — shown as "Anonymous Seeker." Anonymity is not absolute: we retain internal records and will disclose information to law enforcement when required by law.

We share data only with: (a) Payment processors (e.g. Stripe) — to process transactions; (b) Infrastructure providers (e.g. Supabase, Cloudinary, Netlify) — to operate the platform; (c) Moderation services (e.g. Hive Moderation) — to review content for policy violations; (d) Law enforcement — when required by valid legal process. All third-party providers are bound by data processing agreements and are prohibited from using your data for their own purposes.

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, your personal data is scheduled for permanent deletion and removed within 30 days of the deletion request. Wish content you posted may remain in aggregated, anonymised form for platform analytics. Transaction records may be retained longer where required by financial regulations. Verification documents are deleted within 60 seconds of processing, as described above.

Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access the personal data we hold about you; request correction of inaccurate data; request deletion of your data; object to certain processing; data portability. To exercise these rights, contact privacy@votavis.co. EU and UK users have additional rights under GDPR and UK GDPR respectively. We will respond to verified requests within 30 days.

Votavis uses essential cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and maintain your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. We do not use third-party analytics that share your data with advertisers.

Votavis is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us at privacy@votavis.co and we will delete the account and associated data immediately.

We use industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and at rest, access controls, and regular security reviews. No system is perfectly secure. If you discover a security vulnerability, please report it responsibly to security@votavis.co.

Votavis operates globally. Your data may be processed in countries other than your own, including countries that may have different data protection standards. Where required, we use standard contractual clauses or other lawful transfer mechanisms to protect your data.

We may update this policy periodically. We will notify you of material changes via the app or email. The effective date at the top of this page reflects the most recent update.

Existing crowdfunding platforms are built on emotional manipulation. The more desperate you look, the more you raise. Votavis is built on the opposite principle — honest wishes, voluntary giving, and a platform that stays out of the way. We believe generosity should feel good, not guilty.

Votavis is Latin for "gifts" or "offerings." It was used in ancient Rome to describe gifts given freely — to the public, to the gods, to strangers. That's exactly what this is.

Seekers pay a small subscription to post wishes. Patrons browse and grant for free — always. We take zero percentage of any grant. Payment processing fees (charged by Stripe) are the only deduction. Everything else goes to the person you chose.

Completely free for everyone. Posting is completely free for all Seekers — no subscription, no credits, no paywall, ever. Patrons browse and grant for free. Votavis earns only when you do: a small sliding fee when a grant is successfully completed.

Seekers keep up to 98.5% of every grant. Votavis takes a small sliding fee only when a grant is successfully completed — the larger the grant, the less we take. Specifically: grants under $100 carry an 8% fee (you keep 92%); $101–$500 carry 5% (you keep 95%); $501–$2,000 carry 3% (you keep 97%); $2,001–$10,000 carry 2.5% (you keep 97.5%); $10,001–$50,000 carry 2% (you keep 98%); and grants above $50,000 carry just 1.5% (you keep 98.5%). Stripe's standard processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction also applies, as with all online payments. You never pay Votavis unless your wish was successfully funded.

Nothing happens. You owe nothing. There are no fees, no subscriptions, and no penalties if your wish goes unfunded. Posting is completely free. Votavis only earns when a grant is successfully completed — so if nothing comes in, nothing goes out. Your wish stays live until it expires, and you can always repost.

No. All grants are voluntary, irrevocable gifts. By granting a wish, you acknowledge you're making a gift with no expectation of return. If you believe fraud occurred, use the report function or contact your payment provider.

When a patron commits to a grant, the money is paid upfront and held securely by Stripe. It doesn't reach the seeker until the grant is confirmed. This means no one gets excited prematurely — the money is real and locked before anyone celebrates.

Seekers can optionally upload a legal document (bank statement, benefit letter, or tax doc). Our AI reviews it in under 60 seconds and deletes it permanently. Only a verified/not verified status is stored. The ✓ badge then appears on all your wishes, boosting trust and feed ranking. Verification is free for all seekers.

Yes. Both Seekers and Patrons can operate anonymously. Seekers can toggle "Post anonymously" when posting. Patrons can choose to stay anonymous when granting. Neither side ever has to reveal their identity.

An optional $9.99/month membership for patrons who want more. Patron Pass gives you 48-hour early access to new wishes before they go public, access to the Weekly Drop events, advanced filters, and a Pass badge on your profile. It's never required — just for patrons who love the platform.

A themed weekly event where Patron Pass holders contribute to a pooled grant for a specific category — Music Week, Education Week, and so on. The pool fills throughout the week and distributes to qualifying wishes every Friday. It's Votavis's way of making giving feel like an event, not a transaction.

Every dollar you grant counts toward your total gifted amount, which determines your rank — from Giver ($100+) all the way to The Gilt ($1B+). Ranks are purely for recognition and have no monetary value.

Yes. Every wish has a report button. You can report for fake photos, manipulative language, scam intent, duplicate posts, or other reasons. Three reports triggers automatic manual review. Ten downvotes auto-flags a wish for review.

Yes. You are solely responsible for reporting received funds to your local tax authority. Votavis does not provide tax advice. In some jurisdictions, funds received above certain thresholds may be taxable income. Grants on Votavis are not tax-deductible for the patron as Votavis is not a registered charity.

Verification is an optional step that gives Seekers a ✓ badge on all their wishes. It tells Patrons that the person behind the wish has been checked against a real document — increasing trust and significantly boosting your position in the feed.

Any of the following: a bank statement (last 30 days), a government benefit letter, or a tax document. The document just needs to confirm you're a real person in a real situation.

Your document is uploaded securely, reviewed by AI in under 60 seconds, and permanently deleted. We never store the document itself — only a yes/no verified status. No human ever sees your document.

It means Votavis's AI has confirmed a real document was submitted. It does not mean Votavis endorses your wish or guarantees anything about your situation. It simply signals to Patrons that you've taken the extra step to prove you're real.

No. Verification is always optional. Unverified wishes can still be granted. Verification just improves your trust score and feed ranking.
